The Church of Eke ( Swedish Eke kyrka ) is a country church that belongs to the parish (Swedish församling ) Eke. It is located between Route 142 and the east coast of the Swedish island of Gotland , 53 km south of Visby and 7.5 km south of Hemse .

Church building

In the first half of the 13th century the choir and nave were built in the Romanesque style. The church tower was added later around 1300 . The church is mostly made of sandstone. During the restoration in 1916, the wooden floor was broken open. By means of dendrochronological dating it was learned that the wooden planks come from the 1070s. The planks used to belong to a stave church .
