Halla Church (Gotland)
The Church of Halla ( Swedish Halla kyrka ) is a country church on the Swedish island of Gotland . It belongs to the type of saddle churches and to the parish (Swedish församling ) Vänge in the diocese of Visby . The church was consecrated in the 13th century.
location
The church is located approximately in the middle of Gotland, 19 km southeast of Visby and 2.5 km north of the place (Swedish Tatort ) Roma .
Church building
The present choir was built in the middle of the 14th century. The sacristy is from the same period . The nave is older and was built in the 13th century. The nave has a simple portal on the south side. A rider figure can be recognized on its border stones.
In the southeast corner of the choir there are two walled-in rune stone fragments . On one of them the text " lybeckar dräpte " can be deciphered.
The inside of the choir is decorated with frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries.
The church was restored in 1967.
Furnishing
- In the triumphal arch hangs a crucifix from the mid-15th century.
- The altar was made of wood in 1686.
