The fortified church in Feldioara (Marienburg) in the Brașov district in Romania is one of the fortified churches in Transylvania and belongs to the Evangelical Church AB in Romania .

After the Teutonic Order was driven out of the area in 1225, the Cistercian monks received patronage over the town of Marienburg (today Feldioara ). Only afterwards, but still in the 13th century, was the fortified church to the west, 250 meters from the original Marienburg , built together with an associated curtain wall . The Romanesque church, which was probably built by the Cistercian monks together with the local population, in particular apparently Transylvanian Saxons , then became the religious and cultural center of the place.

Between the end of the 14th and middle of the 15th century, the church was converted into a Gothic style. On the second floor of the bell tower, the three-aisled church, a vaulted gallery was apparently built in the course of these centuries, which is dedicated to the church donor. In the 18th century, the bell tower of the now Protestant church was given a new roof, similar to that of the Black Church of Brașov ( Kronstadt in German ). The organ of the church was created at the end of the 18th century by the organ builder Johannes Prause . Three panels of the pre-Reformation winged altar of the fortified church are now in the Black Church of Brașov. Of the curtain wall that once surrounded the church, only a low-walled enclosure remains to this day.
