description

The interior of the complex consists of the nave of the church, a tower that now serves as a bell tower, a stone structure and several alleys . The Gaden and the stone building are connected to the curtain wall, which is now only partially preserved. The interior of the facility was previously only accessible via the gate in the southwest. On the north side of the wall there are still sections of a kennel wall.

history

church

The nave of today's church dates from around 1500, but it is assumed that a previous Romanesque building already existed. The building was changed between 1598 and 1618, with additions such as the sacristy from 1601 and the south portal from 1618. In 1810 the choir of the nave was expanded. In 1910 a church renovation was carried out under the direction of Heinrich Dolmetsch . During a restoration in 1960, several historical paintings were discovered inside the church, for example a painted door frame from 1598 or a cycle from 1717.

Tower, mansion and gaden

The free-standing defense tower, today the church's bell tower, was first mentioned in 1254 and was probably originally the keep of the castle complex. In 1756 the bell storey of the tower was renewed.

The manor house was probably built at the same time as the tower and served as a fruit box for the Württemberg rulers in the 16th century. The building burned down in 1876 and was not rebuilt in full when it was rebuilt that year.

The gaden, which according to the dating in the cellar entrances come from 1611, 1692 and 1735, served as fruit storage. They were renovated together with the defensive wall between 1980 and 1982.
