The Holzgerlingen hunting lodge was a former building in Holzgerlingen in the Boeblingen district in Baden-Württemberg . By changing its use, the building could be identical to today's parish house in Holzgerlingen ( location coordinates: 48 ° 38 ′ 22.9 ″  N , 9 ° 0 ′ 38.9 ″  E ).

history

A castle in Holzgerlingen was first mentioned around 1328. Around 1348 Holzgerlingen was sold by the Count Palatine of Tübingen to the Dukes of Württemberg, and the castle served as a hunting lodge . The castle was a permanent house until 1500, but structural changes were made in the 16th century.

controversy

There is a disagreement in research as to whether the castle describes the same building as the current rectory.
Proponents of this theory suspect that the wall of the rectory, which used to meet the churchyard wall, may have housed a fortification. In addition, it is not uncommon for Niederadelsburgen to be converted into rectory. In addition, reference is made to indirect evidence according to which a group of 20 noble people, including the Count Palatine of Tübingen, negotiated in Holzgerlingen in 1296. However, it is not known where and why the negotiations took place, but without suitable accommodation, Tübingen would have been a better place to negotiate. Accordingly, suitable premises must have existed in Holzgerlingen.
Opponents of the thesis point out that there is no evidence of the castle or its farm buildings and land. In addition, the rectory was only built in the Middle Ages as part of the church renovation in the 15th century.
