The castle Rohrau is an Outbound Spur castle on the Castle Hill ( 528 m above sea level. NN ), 750 meters south of Rohrau , in the municipality of Gärtringen in Böblingen in Baden-Württemberg . The Schlossberg is located on the northwestern eaves of the Schönbuch , which rises well above the Gäu Plain . Only two moats have been preserved from the castle .
history
Towards the end of the 13th century, the castle and the place, which has been handed down as "Rorowe" from this time, came into the possession of the Counts of Hohenberg. The previous owners were the Count Palatine of Tübingen , who bought the town and castle back in 1338. Until 1332 the castle was temporarily owned by the Order of St. John and seems to have been the seat of a commander before 1296 .
Before the end of the 14th century, the Count Palatine of Tübingen sold the castle to the House of Württemberg . On February 10, 1382, Count Palatine Konrad der Scherer, the son of the buyer of the same name, sold the castle and the associated town together with Herrenberg .
