The church ruin Käcklitz is the ruin of the village church of the deserted village Käcklitz in Hohenberg-Krusemark in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt . In addition to the tower, which is accessible as an observation tower, the outer walls of the nave have also been preserved.

history

It was made of brick in the early Gothic style . The oldest parts of the church are the lower two tower floors and the western part of the nave. The upper part of the tower was probably built at the end of the 15th century and the choir was also rebuilt and vaults were added.

In 1489 there was still a separate parish for the church. In 1551, however, the salary for looking after the community was already paid to the Polkritz pastor. In 1581 the Käcklitzer rectory was described as desolate , only a few people lived in the village. For a long time the von Pieverling family held the patronage of the church. In 1713 half of the patronage consisted of the Pieverlings on Rosenhof and the Büttner family on Büttnershof . The church books have been kept by Käcklitz Polkritz since 1807, the older books have been lost.

The interior of the church was renovated at the end of the 19th century. Between 1950 and 1953 the interior of the church was whitewashed and the catechist Zimmermann added verses from the Bible. The Käcklitz church was still a branch church of Polkritz, whose pastor Wiedecke took care of the official business.

In the course of the LPG formation, residential buildings and stables in the village of Käcklitz were given up. The last confirmation took place in the church in 1962 and the last service in 1968. The church must have lost its roof in the 1970s. The parish office was in Iden at this time , now the church ruins belong to the area of the parish of Königsmark . Soldiers of the Soviet Army , which carried out maneuvers in this region, regularly bivouacked in the unused buildings of the village and also in the church . The building fabric was further impaired as a result.

The church tower was later renovated and is accessible as a lookout tower. Parts of the Käcklitz cemetery surrounding the church have also been preserved.

Former equipment

Originally there were two figure tombstones in the basement of the tower. The stones from the 17th century showed images of Georg and Gabriel von Pieverling as knights in armor . Various other tombstones of the family were in the church, including one on the north wall of the choir for the dike captain Abraham von Pieverling. The two church bells of the church were cast in 1760 by the Magdeburg bell caster Christian Gotthold Ziegener . The bells were founded by Hans Christoph von Pieverling and Eleonora Henriette von Görne.
