The plant was founded in 1945 as a workshop for engines. Back then there were only a few dozen employees. As early as 1948, after a reorganization, automobiles and other technical devices were also repaired.

From 1958, spare parts for cars were also manufactured. In 1961 the plant was restructured again so that the first T-50W chain tractor from the new series production could be completed on September 22nd, 1962 . 10,000 machines of this type were produced within three years. Just like its successor, it was based on the MTZ-50 wheel tractor from the Minski Traktorny Sawod .

The successor T-54W was built in series from 1967. Except for the chassis, it is also based on the MTZ-50, but already has a fixed cab. In 1972 the 50,000 ran. Factory history tractor from the production line.

From 1974 the T-70 chain tractor was manufactured on the basis of the new MTZ-80 . Different versions of the vehicle were created, which were designated as T-70A or T-70S. The 100,000 left in 1979. Tractor the factory premises. In Soviet times, around 5500 people were employed in the Chisinau plant. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the company was privatized in 1995 and converted into a public limited company. From then on it appeared as Тракторный завод "TRACOM" (German tractor factory "TRACOM" ). The T-70 model continued to be produced until 2008.

Also in 2008, the company was no longer able to continue paying workers' wages and had to stop production. Before and after, there were various efforts by the state and also by Minski Traktorny Sawod to save the plant. From 1962 to 2008 the Kischinau tractor factory produced 257,635 tractors.

New negotiations were held in 2011 and 2012, but they apparently did not produce any results. The plant had meanwhile been completely cleared.

In 2014 the company BICOTRA SA was founded with the aim of resuming production of the T-70. Manufacturing capacities were limited with 30 to 40 tractors per month. It is not clear whether the new company still exists.
