Kisomys ( Ukrainian Кізомис ; Russian Кизомыс Kisomys ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast of Kherson with about 1,800 inhabitants (2001).
Geographical location
The village is located at an altitude of 9 m at the transition from the Dnieper Delta to the Dnepr-Bug-Liman , 12 km southwest of the district center of Biloserka and 25 km southwest of the Oblast center of Kherson .
history
The village, founded in 1783 as Kisyj Mys , an outpost of the Zaporozhian Cossacks , was abandoned by the Cossacks after the Russo-Ottoman War from 1768 to 1774 , which brought the area under Russian rule.
A Russian officer received the area in 1778 and, on the orders of Lieutenant General Iwan A. Hannibal, settled Albanian settlers there, but they did not stay in the village permanently. On July 28, 1783, the governor-general Grigory Potjomkin handed the land to Vice-Admiral Fedot A. Klokachev ( Федот Алексеевич Клокачёв ; March 15, 1739 - October 27, 1783), who settled his serfs here. The village, in which a school was founded in 1785, was known by two names at that time: the old name Kisyj Mys and the first name of the owner Fedorowka . Two lighthouses were built in the western part of the village in 1912. From August 17, 1941 to March 4, 1944, the village was occupied by the Wehrmacht .
