Kjell Ove Oftedal (born April 6, 1971 in Kristiansand ) is a former Norwegian biathlete .

Kjell Ove Oftedal started biathlon in 1983. He had his first international success when he won the bronze medal in the team race at the Junior World Championships in 1990 in Sodankylä at the side of Kjetil Sæter and Dag Bjørndalen . In 1995 he made his debut in Ruhpolding in the biathlon world cup and immediately won world cup points as 13th. He achieved the greatest success at the Biathlon World Championships in 1995 in Antholz , where he was sixth of the individual and fifth in the relay race with Ole Einar Bjørndalen , Jon Åge Tyldum and Frode Andresen . For the final of the World Cup of the 1994/95 season in Lillehammer , he won the final relay race of the season in the line-up of the World Championship relay with the Norwegian representation. Until 1997 it was used again and again in the following two seasons, without being able to build on its successes from 1995. In Windischgarsten he won the bronze medal at the 1997 European Championships together with Stig-Are Eriksen , Kjetil Sæter and Lars-Sigve Oftedal as the final runner of the relay.

Nationally, Oftedal won silver in team races in 1992, bronze in 1993, silver in 1997 and again bronze in relay races in 1998. His season partners included Arne Idland, Bård Mjølne , Gunnar Espeland, Lars-Sigve Oftedal , Torje Håland and Bård Skogholm.

After his playing career, he became a coach. At times he was the head coach of the Norwegian biathlon men until he was replaced by Mikael Löfgren in the 2008/09 season . From the 2014/15 season he will look after the junior national team of Norway. He lives in Figgjo .
