Kjetil Øvrelid Strand (born October 2, 1979 in Stavanger , Norway ) is a Norwegian handball player . He is 1.88 m tall and weighs 93 kg.
Strand, who plays for Stavanger Håndball (number 5 on the back) and plays for the Norwegian men's national handball team (number 6 on the back), can be used in many ways in the back area.
Career
Kjetil Strand got his first professional contract with Stavanger Håndball . There he made his breakthrough in the 2002/03 season: With 281 goals in 25 games, he was voted top scorer (Norwegian record) and Norway's “Handball Player of the Year”. In the summer of 2003 TBV Lemgo tried to get a beach, but this failed because Stavanger was demanding too much money. Only after his club filed for bankruptcy in winter did Kjetil Strand move to the German handball league in December ; but not to Lemgo, but to SG Flensburg-Handewitt , where his compatriots Johnny Jensen and Christian Berge already played. But Strand couldn't get past his role model, Berge, so that despite winning the German championship, he moved to Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in Denmark after only six months . There he remained largely unsuccessful, so that in 2006 he went to league rivals AaB Håndbold . In 2007 he decided to return to Germany and work with the newly promoted Füchse Berlin . In early 2010 it was announced that Kjetil will not renew his contract with the Foxes . He then joined Stavanger Håndball.
Kjetil Strand has played 102 international matches for the Norwegian men's handball team , with 7th place at the men's handball world championship in Tunisia in 2005 being his greatest international success. With Norway he also took part in the men's handball world championship in Germany in 2007 , where he was even elected man of the game in the game against Angola; in the end, however, he finished only a disappointing 13th place with Norway. At the European Handball Championship in 2006 , he set another Norwegian record when he threw 19 goals in the main group game against Iceland .
