Class 10 ( Danish: Klokken 10 , German: 10 o'clock ) is the title of a song by the Danish singer Medina . It was released as the third single from their album For Altid and reached number 1 on the Danish singles chart, becoming their eighth single to top the charts. In addition, the song was awarded platinum in Denmark.
The English version of the song Happening appeared as the second single from the album Forever , but was not very successful and only reached number 68 in the German charts.
background
music
Class 10 was composed by Medina and her producer team Providers, consisting of Rasmus Stabell and Jeppe Federspiel. The American songwriter Ross Golan was also involved in the English translation of Happening . The songs belong to the electro-pop genre. Strings can be heard in the background, which also form the short intro.
content
In a video interview on the song, Medina stated: “It's about meeting someone, he is unfaithful with his girlfriend, and I'm waiting for him to break-up with her, and he keeps promising me that in 10 o'clock or in this German version it's 2 am, he's gonna break up with her, so it's basically me waiting for him to do it, so him and I can be together forever. “[It's about meeting someone. That someone is unfaithful to his girlfriend, I'm waiting for him to break up with her. He keeps promising me that he'll break up with her at 10 a.m. - 2 a.m. in the English version. So it's basically about me waiting for him to do it so that he and I can be together forever.] In this context, the chorus of the song pretty much sums up the whole subject matter of the song. Here Medina sings: "Every single night I wait for you, every single day you say it's through, you promised me the night at 2 am that it's happening." [Every single night I wait for you, every single day you say that it's over. You promise me it'll happen at 2am tonight]
Criticism
The song's reviews were mixed. Markus Birner (generation-one.de) wrote: "The song Happening begins with a short string intro, continues with a slower beat, but unfortunately degenerates into a melodically nice but unfortunately unimportant pop ballad."
Music video
The video for class 10 was shot by Michael Sauer Christensen. It takes place in the Berlin subway station Alexanderplatz. The video shows Medina sitting on a staircase and then watching her lover and his girlfriend from behind a pillar. Medina's lover accompanies his girlfriend to a subway that takes her away. Medina approaches him and kisses him, but suddenly the girlfriend of Medina's lover appears again and forces the two apart. An argument breaks out and both women leave the station.
The music video for Happening was shot in August 2012 and premiered on Medina's Myvideo page on September 5th. The director here was Martin Skovbjerg.
