Klaus-Dieter Grosser (born January 27, 1933 in Liegnitz , Lower Silesia Province ; † December 9, 2016 in Krefeld ) was a German cardiologist and intensive care doctor .

Life

Grosser studied medicine in Frankfurt am Main and was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . He was a scholarship holder of the German Research Foundation at the Pathological Institute of the University of Frankfurt. From 1962 to 1964, Grosser was a scientific assistant at the Kerckhoff Institute of the Max Planck Society in Bad Nauheim. In 1965 he became a research assistant at the Cologne University Clinic, where he became senior physician in 1970 and completed his habilitation. In 1974 he became a scientific adviser at the University Clinic in Cologne. From 1977 to 1999 he was director of the Medical Clinic I of the City Clinic in Krefeld and was also appointed professor at the University of Cologne.

Grosser was a member of the Corps Austria and Moenania .

Act

Grosser was the founder of the Heart Surgery Foundation and a pioneer in emergency medical services. The emergency doctor service in Krefeld was introduced under his leadership.

In recognition of his scientific achievements in all areas of internal intensive care medicine, he received the E. K. Frey Gold Medal in 1999 from the German Society for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine . In addition, on November 5, 1999, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 1978 he was the organizer of the congress of the German and Austrian Society for Internal Intensive Care Medicine, of which he was president for several years. Grosser has been committed to the Soviet health system in Kiev since 1982 and was honored with the Medica plaque in 1992.
