Klaus-Heinrich Standke (born July 3, 1935 in Remscheid ) is a German economist and international science politician in international government organizations ( OECD , EIRMA, United Nations , UNESCO ). He is the founding president of the Committee for the Promotion of German-French-Polish Cooperation eV (Weimar Triangle).

Klaus-Heinrich Standke has been married to Christina Freiin von Welck since 1989. Two sons (Eckhart Achatus, * 1964 in Berlin, and Christian Donatus, * 1968 in Paris) from their first marriage to Minette von Krosigk.

Education and professional activity

Standke began his career at the age of 16 as an apprentice at Stahlwerke Röchling-Buderus AG in Wetzlar . After holding positions in companies in the steel and electrical industry in Essen , London and Paris , he passed the so-called Abitur (examination for admission to university studies without a school leaving examination) at a commission appointed by the Hessian Ministry of Science at the Goethe-Gymnasium Frankfurt in 1960 . This was followed by a degree in economics at the Technical University of Berlin, interrupted by a study of literature at the Université de Paris à la Sorbonne . In 1964 he became a business graduate and in 1970 a Dr. rer. pole. PhD .

From 1966 to 1974 he was a counselor in the scientific directorate of the OECD , Paris. From 1969 to 1974 he was released from this position as Secretary General of the European Industrial Research Management Association (EIRMA), Paris, which was founded under the auspices of the OECD and to which around 170 of the most research-intensive industrial companies in Europe belong. After the Federal Republic of Germany joined the UN, he was the first German to be appointed Director of Science and Technology at the United Nations, New York (1974–1980).

From 1980 to 1990 he was Executive Director in the Science Sector of UNESCO , Paris and most recently, until 1999, in the rank of Assistant Director General, he was honorary special advisor to the Director General. From 1990 to 1995 he was President of the OstWestWirtschaftsAkademie (OWWA), Berlin, a joint establishment of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the BDI and DIHT as well as around 70 German industrial companies, banks and consulting firms. In 1995 he was appointed honorary professor at the Poznan University of Economics and Business and also held teaching positions at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC), Paris-Jouay-en-Josass, as well as at the Eastern European Institute of the Free University and at the University of Potsdam .
