Klaus-Martin Bresgott

Klaus-Martin Bresgott (born January 24, 1967 in Greifswald ) is a German art historian and conductor .

Life

After graduating from the church college in Potsdam-Hermannswerder , Bresgott studied German and art history, parallel to choral conducting. He worked as an ensemble singer and founded the Berliner Ensemble Athesinus Consort Berlin in 1992 , with which he recorded several CDs. From 1996 he worked as a freelance cultural manager, dramaturge and conductor. His complete recording of the sacred choral music op. 12 by Hugo Distler was awarded on the best list 3/2008 of the Association of the German Record Critics' Prize. He received the French Choc de Classica in 2019 for the recording of Johann Hermann Schein and Frank Schwemmer . He publishes art studies and choral music.

Bresgott has been working in the cultural office of the EKD Council since 2009 . In 2012 he initiated and curated the nationwide 366-day concert project 366 + 1 - Church sounds from Augsburg to Zittau, and in 2018 he was curator of the exhibition “Called by your name. Maria and Nicholas ”. He sits on the Board of Trustees of the Bible and Culture Foundation .

Bresgott is married and has five children.
