Bible and Culture Foundation
The Bible and Culture Foundation is an ecumenical foundation under civil law based in Stuttgart . She wants to make the cultural significance of the Bible publicly aware. To achieve this goal, the foundation is active in four main areas:
- Promotion of projects that present or convey the topics and contents of the Bible.
- Support for work on the meaning of the Bible for society, cultural and spiritual life.
- Honoring personalities who have worked in a special way for the validity of the Bible and the communication of biblical values.
- Support for high-profile events on the subject of the Bible.
The foundation appears regularly in school and youth competitions. These are carried out in different federal states in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and the churches and give young people easy access to the examination of the Bible. In addition, the foundation awards endowment prizes, sponsorship prizes and honors to people who reflect in their works the importance of the Bible and enable a dialogue about it.
history
The foundation was established in 1987 under the chairmanship of the Federal President a. D. Karl Carstens and founded with the support of the German Bible Society , the German Bishops' Conference , Protestant regional churches and the Diakonie der EKD . They "aim to promote efforts that make the cultural significance of the Bible publicly aware".

The foundation awards an "advancement award" at irregular intervals and usually a "foundation award" every year.
