Klaus-Peter Schrammel

Klaus-Peter Schrammel (born January 15, 1942 in Bregenz , Vorarlberg ) is an emeritus Austrian lawyer specializing in criminal defense and copyright law , as well as a pianist , keyboardist and composer .

Life

Klaus-Peter Schrammel was born in Bregenz as the son of the music teacher and cellist Friedrich Schrammel. He is the great-grandson of Johann Schrammel , the co-founder of Schrammelmusik and the quartet of the same name (1884-1893). At the age of eight he attended the municipal music school in Bregenz. There he received piano and cello lessons as well as an introduction to music theory from Aldo Kremmel, who particularly encouraged him.

From 1956 to 1959 he played as a cellist in a string quartet, but felt more drawn to the piano and also to jazz . He played as a pianist with various jazz and commercial groups. In the early 1960s there were concerts as well as radio recordings with his own groups, the Continental Quintet, the Group Phönix and the Schrammel Quartet in Austria, Switzerland and Germany.

After his Matura (Abitur) in 1964, he studied in Vienna at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna and studied psychology for a few semesters . In 1969 Klaus-Peter Schrammel received his doctorate in law .

From 1969 he attended the Conservatory of the City of Vienna (today Conservatory Vienna Private University ), Institute for Jazz. Study trips and stays took him to the USA and Mexico in 1969/1970 . In 1974 he traveled to Iran , Afghanistan , India and Nepal .

After his return in 1975 he opened his law firm at Riemergasse 14, 1010 Vienna, as a freelance lawyer, and combined his career as a musician with a legal profession. As a criminal defense attorney, he represented u. a. the Palmers kidnapper Thomas Gratt as well as the builder of Kugelmugel , Edwin Lipburger. He was also legal advisor to the Musicians-Composers-Authors Guild (MKAG). In 2007 he retired as a lawyer.

He has been married to blues singer and Fluxus artist Christine Jones since 1980 . Together they founded Yedermann Productions, an association for the promotion of Austrian art, and KUNST> KANZLEI, where he also produced albums by Hermann Nitsch such as composition for organ . Since 1981 he played with the bands "JONESMOBILe" and "Christine Jones Trinity" as a pianist. He also ensures cultural exchange with other musical cultures at the Schrammelklangfestival in Litschau. In 2011 Schrammel u. a. founded the Music & Poetry Basket association with the cultural promoter Wolfgang Lamprecht .
