Wolfgang Lamprecht (born April 30, 1964 in Linz , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian culture promoter, content curator, science citizen and author . Lamprecht lives in Vienna .

Career

Lamprecht attended the Academic Gymnasium Linz and, after completing compulsory schooling, began training as a chef in the Casino theater restaurant (today: Promenadenhof ) . After completing his apprenticeship , he made up his Matura at the Federal High School for Working People in Linz. During this time he worked for the Diocese of Linz as an administrator in the Bishop's Office in Linz under Maximilian Aichern OSB and as a youth leader in the Catholic Student Center STUWE ; Lamprecht's early socialization in the environment of the Roman Catholic Church also included his commitment as a parish councilor for the parish of St. Matthias and as a youth representative for the deanery . In the course of the pontificate of John Paul II, which he criticized , Lamprecht left the church in 1986.

He then studied journalism and communication science , theater studies and musicology at the University of Vienna , and took an instrumental training ( saxophone and flute ) at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz (today: Anton Bruckner Private University ), the Vienna University of Music , the Vienna Art Institute and with Leo Wright . Lamprecht was in the 1980s a. a. Member of the jazz rock formation Flexible Feet , the band Lumberjack des Thompson Twins - drummer Andrew Edge and the trio around Michael Kampelmühler. Scholarships from the Friedrich Austerlitz Institute enabled him to do internships at ORF , Radio Adria , WBGO JazzFM New York and finally the Arbeiter-Zeitung (AZ / Tagblatt).

In 1986, in parallel to his studies, Lamprecht began an internship at the daily newspaper AZ / Tagblatt . Working as a jazz critic and in the cultural department , he came to the chronicle, wrote under the pseudonym “Philip Lumen” for society and was department head first for local affairs and then for Weltchronik until the daily newspaper was closed. During this time Lamprecht wrote reports on church issues and from 1991 worked as a freelance war correspondent for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Austrian weekly newspaper NEWS . In 1992 he published a. a. for the features of the Neue Musikzeitung , the festival magazine , the daily newspaper Die Presse , the daily newspaper Der Standard , the weekly newspaper Falter , the culture magazine Die Bühne and the Salzburger Nachrichten reviews , portraits and interviews . In 1993 Lamprecht switched to public relations . As a jazz critic for the Salzburger Nachrichten , an author for jazzzeit or the business magazine Format , a designer of programs for radio and TV and - from 2004 to 2011 - representative of the publisher for the State of Vienna and managing editor-in-chief of the Austrian cultural magazine k2-kultur in centrope , he remained connected to cultural journalism . Lamprecht curates the magazines Jazz & Beyond and Art News on Flipboard , and he publishes the corporate media title kunstpresse , founded by Klaus Albrecht Schröder , for the Kunstforum Wien .

public relations

Between 1993 and 1996 Lamprecht was a consultant at the entertainment company Agency for Music and Art ( Chaka Khan , Roger Chapman , Kurt Hauenstein , Karl Ratzer , GSE Records), but above all an employee and partner of the capital market-specialized PR agency Scholdan & Company . There he was responsible for the IPOs at Vienna International Airport , Böhler-Uddeholm , Erste Bank and Brau Union and specialized in event marketing , corporate cultural responsibility and employee communication . In the latter capacity he acted u. a. also as editor-in-chief of the Böhler-Uddeholm group magazine Special Steel .

Together with Ernst Scholdan and Hubertus Czernin , Lamprecht founded the SOS Media Freedom initiative in the mid-1990s against the background of the turbulence of trend / profil , Falter and Standard . Furthermore, Lamprecht and Scholdan applied for a license for a cultural broadcaster under the name Radio Naschmarkt in the course of the Austrian radio liberalization . This group of operators should merge with the group around Falter publisher Armin Thurnher and today's gotv owner Thomas Madersbacher in RTL .

In 1997 Lamprecht finally took over the management of the Scholdan & Company subsidiary European Communication Systems in Vienna, most recently as chairman of the supervisory board of the corporation of the same name in Frankfurt am Main . The task of this company was the production, programming and distribution of interactive information terminals for the euro changeover for banks , insurance companies and politics . In 2004 he founded the communication agency leisure group with Alexander Khaelss-Khaelssberg .

Culture promoter

In 1997 he was awarded the Maecenas cultural sponsorship prize for his entrepreneurial cultural commitment in connection with an Arnulf Rainer retrospective in the Kunsthalle Krems . Since 1999 Lamprecht has concentrated almost exclusively on the cultural sector. Initially active as Executive Director of the Academy for Opera & Arts under the presidency of Georg Solti for the World Classic Award as well as for Peter Kupfer's concert agency European-American Productions (including Luciano Pavarotti , José Carreras , Agnes Baltsa ), Lamprecht advised the Austrian Federal Theater Holding in the course of the outsourcing of federal responsibility, the project group of the BAWAG Design Center or the Wiener Bühnenverein under Ingrid Moser , as well as commercial enterprises in the area of corporate cultural responsibility . Lamprecht has been an advisor to UniCredit Bank Austria and responsible for corporate communications at the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien under the direction of Ingried Brugger .

Lamprecht, who was associated with the singer and Fluxus artist Christine Jones until her death in 2017 and who was also granted “citizenship” of the Kugelmugel Republic in 2006 . a. involved in the founding of the two Viennese jazz clubs Porgy & Bess (1993) and Joe Zawinul ’s Birdland (2004); In addition, Lamprecht wrote the programs of Johannes Kunz's Salzburg Jazz Autumn and the Jazz Fest Wien , which he has been advising programmatically since 2015 and since 2019 as a founding member and general secretary of the JazzFest Wien Ambassadors Club. Member of the jury of the Amadeus Austrian Music Award and the Fine Tunes competition , and he has been a member of the jury of the Fidelio competition since 2018. In 2017 Lamprecht became Vice President of the Vienna Art Chancellery , and since 2019 he has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Vienna Axis .

Science Citizenship

Lamprecht received his doctorate in media and communication studies from the University of Vienna . His scientific work in this area is based on the understanding of citizen science at the interface of culture, media, economy and the public, which he u. a. also mediated in the context of lectures and teaching assignments at universities and technical colleges. In 2011 he founded the Association for the Promotion and Research of Medial History Communication (VGM) with the communication scientists Jürgen Grimm, Wolfgang Duchkowitsch and Josef Seethaler . Lamprecht is a member of the History on TV project group at the Institute for Journalism and Communication Studies at the University of Vienna and, since 2013, a member of the Historical Communication Research working group , which also publishes the communication science journal Medien und Zeit . In 2012 he published a standard work on cultural communication with his white paper on cultural journalism , and since 2013 he has played a leading role in the discussion about the paradigm shift in cultural sponsorship and the concept of corporate cultural responsibility (CCR) . In 2014 Lamprecht organized the symposium Heimatfron_t! Together with Duchkowitsch and the journalist Bettina Pauer in cooperation with the Austrian Parliamentary Administration , the Federal Ministry of Education and Women as well as the Institute for Media and Communication Studies at the University of Vienna and the Concordia press club .
