Klaus is a Spanish Christmas film that was released in theaters and on Netflix in November 2019 .

action

The film is about the postman Jesper, who does not honor his father, the chief instructor of all postmen, with his disinterest. His father moved him to the lonely town of Smeerensburg north of the Arctic Circle, where Jesper had to process 6,000 letters over the course of a year in order not to be disinherited. After a turbulent arrival in which the villagers beat each other up, Jesper realizes that the post office there is a hovel. He learns from the ferryman Mogens and the former teacher, now the fishmonger Alva, that there are two clans in the village, the Ellingboes and the Krums, who have been at odds with one another for many years. Since the villagers are consequently not sending any letters, it doesn't look like Jesper will be able to do his job.

By chance he meets Klaus, who lives in a hut surrounded by handmade toys. Likewise by chance, Jesper comes across a drawing of a toy made by a child without a toy. Jesper loses this drawing on his first visit to Klaus, who delivers this toy to the child. Word gets around among the children, so that Jesper is soon delivering a lot of letters to Klaus and bringing as many toys to the children together with Klaus. As a result, the children play with each other, regardless of which family they belong to. When they heard from Jesper that toys were only given to children who love them, they made every effort. This leads to the village blooming and also the adults - apart from the clan heads - talking to each other again. After all, there are so many toys that Jesper and Klaus are out and about in a sleigh pulled by reindeer; the toys in a gigantic sack.

The end of the year is approaching and Klaus' supply of toys is running out. Jesper tries to persuade him to make new toys to give to the children of the village for Christmas. Klaus hesitates at first because he actually built things for his own children. But that never happened because of the death of his wife. When he and Jesper make a toy for little Margu of the Sami people, he changes his mind. Together with the grateful seeds and Alva, they are preparing for Christmas.

While Jesper feels more and more comfortable in Smeerensburg, the leaders of the Ellingboes and the Krums conclude a truce with the aim of getting rid of Jesper and Klaus and restoring the old enmity. They discover Jesper's destination and write and send tens of thousands of letters. As a result, Jesper's father comes to congratulate his son and to bring him home. His friends are disappointed because they believe that Jesper only did everything to leave Smeerensburg again. But on the ferry, Jesper realizes that his place is there now, and together with Klaus, Alva and the Sami he manages to save Christmas.

Alva and Jesper start a family and at Christmas they give out more and more presents together with Klaus and the Sami friends. It goes on like this for a few years until Klaus hears his wife's call and disappears. While Jesper continues to work as a postman, every Christmas he sees his friend Klaus, the sleigh and the reindeer.
