Klaus Altmeyer

Klaus Altmeyer (born April 27, 1926 in Lebach ; † August 18, 2020 in Losheim am See ) was a German journalist and publicist .

Life

He was the son of the businessman Leo Altmeyer. His school education was interrupted by military service from 1944 to 1945. This led him to Stralsund and Schwerin, among others . From October 1946 to January 1947 he worked as an interpreter and secretary for UNRRA , Team 15. This was followed by a wide range of university studies at various universities in Germany and France, such as law and political sciences as well as international law in Paris and Bonn .

From 1952 Altmeyer became involved in the opposition in Saarland , which ultimately campaigned successfully for re-integration into Germany , which later led to work at the CDU Saar . From 1955 to 1956 he was deputy general secretary and secretary of the parliamentary group. This was followed by the office of spokesman for the state government from 1957 to 1961. From 1961 to 1991 Altmeyer was employed as head of the press office at Saarland Broadcasting . Among the other offices he took over there were: SR commissioner for the international radio exhibition and member of the historical commission of the ARD .
