Klaus Böttcher

Klaus Böttcher (* 1941 in Dreschvitz / Rügen ) is a German educator and former youth functionary ( FDJ ).

Life

Klaus Böttcher grew up on the island of Rügen and lived there until 1978. After completing 10th grade in 1957, he studied pedagogy at the Institute for Teacher Training in Putbus / Rügen. He then worked as a primary school teacher at the local school. At the age of 22 he was appointed director of the school home in Putbus belonging to the Central Institute for Diabetes "Gerhardt Katsch" (Karlsburg) . He did basic military service in a training unit with the border troops of the GDR

A few months later he began his political career in the field of popular education. He completed a three-year study at the party college "Karl Marx" in Berlin in 1971 with a diploma as a social scientist and then worked until 1975 as the first secretary of the FDJ district leadership on Rügen.

This was followed by studies at the Academy for Social Sciences in Moscow , which he obtained in 1978 with the academic degree “Dr. phil. ”graduated. Immediately afterwards he was appointed director of the “Wilhelm Pieck” youth college at Bogensee near Wandlitz , which he headed for ten years until March 1988.

He was appointed professor in 1981. For a short time, he was then director of the Franz-Mehring-Schule in Berlin-Biesdorf and immediately after its dissolution he switched to the party headquarters of the SED / PDS or PDS . The main focus of his work was the western expansion of the party, dealing with right-wing extremism and left local politics. As editor, author or co-author, he has published a diverse number of books and articles on these topics. He ended his activity on the PDS party executive committee in March 2001 in the position of personal assistant to the then chairwoman of the PDS Gabi Zimmer .

He has been a pensioner since then and lives with his wife Heidemarie in the Graal-Müritz spa . Both have been married since 1961 and have two sons and four grandchildren.
