Klaus Borchard

Klaus Borchard (born March 1, 1938 in Münster ) is a German architect , urban planner and university lecturer . Borchard is former rector of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and former vice-president of the university rectors' conference .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1958, Klaus Borchard studied architecture and urban planning at the Technical University of Munich . There he became a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. in 1958. Agilolfia in the CV , later also other CV connections. After completing his studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Urban Development and Housing Munich of the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning from 1964 to 1966 . In 1966 he moved to the Bavarian State Building Administration as a government building referendar, in 1967 he was appointed government building master ( Assessor ). In 1968 he moved to the Technical University of Munich for a doctorate, where he worked as a research assistant and senior engineer at the Institute for Urban Development and Spatial Planning. After brief work abroad as a planner for Isfahan / Shahreza - New-Town in Iran , he was appointed professor at the chair for urban planning and settlement at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in 1976 as successor to Edmund Gassner . At the same time he became director of the Institute for Urban Development, Land Management and Cultural Engineering at the university. In 1983 he was appointed Professor Visitante at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago de Chile.

In 1990 Borchard became dean of the agricultural faculty at the University of Bonn, and from 1992 to 1994 he was vice dean . 1997 to 2004 Klaus Borchard was rector of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. From 1998 to 2002 he was Vice President of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK).

Borchard has been a member of the German Council for Land Care since 1983, and from 1991 to 2005 he was a managing director.
