Klaus Dittrich (Manager)

Klaus Dittrich (born April 14, 1955 in Gauting ) is a German manager and former Bavarian senator. Since 2010 he has been Chairman of the Management Board of Messe München GmbH and spokesman for the Messe München International group and in this role also responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Messe München group. Since 2017 he has also held the office of chairman of the Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics (FKM) .

Career

School and study

Dittrich attended elementary school, the modern language high school in Starnberg and the Wittelsbacher high school in Munich , where he passed his Abitur in 1974. He studied German, history and political science (MA) at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich . From 1980 he worked as a clerk at the Bavarian State Library in Munich.

Union work and politics

From 1982 Dittrich worked in various functions in the association, for example as state youth secretary of the DGB , chairman of the DGB district in Munich and deputy state chairman of the DGB Bavaria.

As a member of the supervisory and administrative boards of various industrial and service companies such as Luitpoldhütte Amberg , KraussMaffei AG, Münchener Technologiezentrum GmbH and AOK Bayern , he gained extensive business and industry experience.

From 1990 to 1995 Dittrich was a member of the city ​​council of the state capital Munich . In the Committee for Labor and Economics as well as the Committee for Urban Planning and Building Regulations, he was involved in the preparation and design of the trade fair relocation to Riem. From October 1, 1997 until its dissolution in 1999, Dittrich was a member of the Bavarian Senate for the trade unions group.

Manager at Messe München

After Dittrich joined the company as deputy managing director at Messe München GmbH in April 2002, he was appointed managing director in February 2003. Among other things, he was responsible for the trade fairs for the New Technologies division and for the company's human resources. Since 2010, Klaus Dittrich has been the successor to Manfred Wutzlhofer as Chairman of the Management Board at Messe München.

Under his leadership, Messe München continued the internationalization it had already started, developed into the second-largest German and sixth-largest trade fair organizer worldwide, and expanded its trade fair portfolio to include one of the most important international automotive trade fairs in 2020 when it was awarded the bid to host the IAA for cars .

Private

Klaus Dittrich is married and has two grown children.
