Klaus Eidam
Klaus Eidam (born May 23, 1926 in Chemnitz ; † January 1, 2006 in Oberaudorf ) was a German dramaturge .
Life
After attending grammar school in his hometown, he first took part in the Second World War as an anti-aircraft helper , then as an infantryman towards the end of the war , and was sent on home leave because of an injury.
From 1946 to 1958 Eidam worked as an actor, dramaturge and finally as chief dramaturge in Bernburg, Greiz, Dresden and Berlin. In 1959 he made his first contacts with the Meisel publishing house for a revue in Greiz. From 1960 to 1980 Eidam was head of the theater department of the music publisher VEB "Lied der Zeit" in East Berlin (operetta, musical, musical comedy). From 1987 to 2001 he worked as a freelancer for Meisel publishers in the theater sector.
Klaus Eidam was the theoretician for the development of the musical in the cheerful music theater of the GDR and accompanied its development through analyzes and expert reports as well as as a lyricist and translator.
Awards
- In 1994 he received the Bismarck Medal in silver for maintaining German stage work.
- In 1997 he received the Bolten Beckers Prize from GEMA for “outstanding achievements in the field of popular music theater”.
