Klaus Peter Flesche (born December 20, 1917 in Braunschweig ; † February 26, 1997 in Johannisberg , Rheingau) was a German architect and industrial designer .

Life

Klaus Flesche studied architecture at the Technical University of Braunschweig from 1938 to 1941 . From 1941 to 1945 he worked in various industrial companies. From 1946 to 1948 he ran an architecture office with a focus on residential and industrial buildings . From 1948 to 1951 he was a research assistant at the TU Braunschweig. In 1949 he received his doctorate with the topic " The Kemenaten of the City of Braunschweig ".

From 1951 until his retirement he was head of the industrial design department at Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG in Gustavsburg. Klaus Flesche was the designer of the famous TEE train of the Deutsche Bundesbahn from 1957. Other rail vehicles he designed were the DB series V 320 , the head shape of which was the model for all locomotives of the V-160 family , and the DB series VT 24 . Flesche also designed the first generation of vehicles for the Munich subway and the GTW 72 of the Wuppertal suspension railway , which was acquired in 1972 .

In 1964, examples of his work were shown at documenta III in Kassel in the Industrial Design department . In addition to the TEE train, these included the arched pipe bridge over the Askeröfjord that collapsed in 1980 , diesel trains, harbor cranes, trucks and buses from MAN.
