Klaus Franz (politician)

Klaus Hermann Franz (born February 5, 1953 in Bochum ) is a German engineer and chairman of the general association for insulation industry GDI e. V. and politicians ( CDU ).

Life

Klaus Franz began a typesetter apprenticeship with the printing Kunze in the age of 14 years Gelsenkirchen next attended the night school Georg-Kerschensteiner-School in Gelsenkirchen. After graduating from the University of Wuppertal with a degree in mechanical engineering , he started his first job at Mergenthaler Linotype in Eschborn near Frankfurt .

During his ten years at Industriedruck AG in Essen , Franz was a lecturer at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal for print finishing in the printing technology department.

After working as technical director at Deutsche Rockwool in Gladbeck from 1989 , he took over as its chairman in 2000. From 2007 to January 2015 he was “Senior Vice President Innovation & Business Development” on the Executive Board of Rockwool International A / S. In 2010 Franz was elected President of the General Association of the Insulation Industry (GDI). Since February 2015 he has been the managing director of fmsc GmbH (facility management and services consulting) based in Bochum- Wattenscheid .

Franz is married and has two grown children. He has been a member of the SME and Business Association since 1988 .

politics

Klaus Franz has been a member of the CDU Bochum since 1978. After working in the Bochum-Weitmar local association , he was chairman of the CDU district association in Bochum from 2000 to 2010. From 1989 to 2014 he was a member of the Bochum City Council and various committees; 1989 to 1993 in the complaints committee, 1990 to 1993 in the committee for the environment and public institutions, 1993 to 2004 in the working and economic committee, 1994 to 2009 chairman of the auditing committee, 2009 to 2014 in the main and finance committee with a focus on participations.

Franz was deputy parliamentary group chairman from 1999 to 2009 and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the Bochum City Council from 2009 to 2014. On April 27, 2015 , he was nominated as candidate for mayor for the election on September 13, 2015 at the district members' meeting of the CDU in the Bochum planetarium with 96.3%. Was elected Thomas Eiskirch , SPD.
