Klaus Frietsch

Klaus Frietsch (born August 12, 1939 in Heilbronn ) is a former Hessian local politician of the SPD . He lives in Oestrich-Winkel .

Klaus Frietsch is a trained wholesale merchant. He was also a temporary soldier in the Bundeswehr .

politics

As a member of the SPD, Klaus Frietsch became mayor of Winkel (Rheingau) in 1970 and was then mayor of the newly formed town of Oestrich-Winkel from 1972 to 1989 .

In 1989 Frietsch was elected district administrator of the Rheingau-Taunus district by a red-green coalition . Due to a formal error in the election, its validity was challenged by the CDU and FDP parliamentary groups in the district council according to the provisions of the Hessian municipal code. The dispute was brought before the administrative court . This upheld the lawsuit. When the decision became final, Frietsch lost his office as district administrator and a new election had to be initiated. This took place on May 2 and May 23, 1993 (runoff election). Here Klaus Frietsch prevailed with a narrow majority against his challenger Frieder Rothenberger (CDU). Frietsch did not run for re-election in 1999.

Further career path

After his tenure, he was initially the sole director of Anterra asset management and then set up in a consulting company to advise on real estate and financing issues.

Other offices

Klaus Frietsch is, among other things, chairman of the Rheingau-Taunus Living Area , which helps mentally ill people. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the Rheingau Music Festival and sits on the board of the Tokaj partnership association . He is also a member of the local SPD association.

Controversy

During his time as district administrator, Frietsch came under fire because the district's own hospital GmbH took out loans in foreign currencies in order to reorganize its finances in order to invest this money in German securities.
