Klaus Gablick

Klaus Gablick (born August 26, 1937 in Nordhausen ; † May 17, 2016 in Jena ) was a soccer player in the GDR soccer association . In its highest division, the GDR Oberliga , Gablick played for SC Motor Jena . Gablick is also a four-time GDR junior national player.

Athletic career

Before Gablick came to the youth department of SC Motor Jena, he was active in the company sports community (BSG) Motor Nordhausen-West . In 1955 and 1956 he was part of the GDR junior national team. With her he played four international matches, in which he was mainly used as a striker.

Gablick came to his first games in the GDR league in the 1957 season. There he made his debut on March 31 in the match on the 3rd match day between SC Einheit Dresden and SC Motor Jena (0-0). Coach Hans Warg let him play as a left runner for 60 minutes . The next league games Gablick denied again in the second half of the season, he came in 1957 to six league inserts. He didn't score goals.

In the following years, Gablick did not succeed in establishing himself in the regular team. In 1958 he was allowed to represent the injured defender Karl Oehler in five league games in March and April , after which he was only used sporadically in five other league matches. The 1959 season was the low point of his career, he played a single league game. Although he only came to eleven inserts in 1960, this season was Gablicks most successful season. In 1961/62, the league was played over 39 rounds to transition to the summer-spring rhythm. It should be Gablick's last first division season. After just one game in the spring and a short stint on the 15th matchday, Gablick was used as the left runner from the 16th matchday to the 18th matchday. In the match on the 18th matchday between SC Rotation Leipzig and SC Motor Jena (1: 1) on September 21, 1961, he suffered a broken leg in the 62nd minute, which forced him to take a month-long break. In the spring of 1962 he was used again in two point games. For the 1962/63 season Gablick was nominated again for the top division team of SC Motor Jena, but was no longer used there.

After 42 competitive games for SC Motor Jena (35 times Oberliga, 7 times GDR Cup) without scoring, Klaus Gablick ended his career as a competitive athlete in 1963 at the age of only 26.

Professional career

Klaus Gablick passed his Abitur in 1955 in Nordhausen and then came to Jena because of his football activities. After a one-year internship at VEB Carl Zeiss Jena, he studied at the engineering school for precision engineering in Jena (graduation in 1960). He later completed a distance learning course at the Technical University of Dresden (graduated in 1973) and received his doctorate from the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (1979).

From 1960 to 1991 Klaus Gablick worked in the VEB or VEB Carl Zeiss Jena combine, initially in the area of ​​research and development, later in the area of ​​economics, including 10 years as head of the combine planning department. After briefly working in Rathenow, he was managing director of ORIS Fahrzeugteile GmbH Saxony in St. Egidien from 1992 until he retired in 2002.

Private

Klaus Gablick was married twice. He has a son who lives in Switzerland.
