Klaus Goldammer

Klaus Goldammer (born August 28, 1952 in Leipzig ) is a German marathon runner .

In 1978 he started running as a hobby. In 1982 he won the Leipzig Marathon , in which he is the record holder with another five victories (1982, 1984, 1990, 1996, 1997), and the Lichtenberg Marathon . In 1982 he and Roland Winkler won the marathon of the peace run, in which the Lichtenberg marathon had gone.

In 1985 he won the Peace Run Marathon again, in 1984 and 1987 the GutsMuths Rennsteig Run marathon . In the autumn marathon in Budapest he was sixth in 1986 and 1987, second in 1988 and first in 1989. In 1989 he also won the Sofia marathon and was third in the GDR marathon championship , and in 1990 he was the last GDR marathon champion with his overall victory in the Leipzig marathon.

In 2007 and 2009 he won the Schlaubetal Marathon .

Goldammer, who was not allowed to play in the national team in the GDR due to his advanced age and family connections in the West, was internationally successful as a senior athlete in various age groups. Among other things, he set an indoor world record over 3000 m for the M 45 class on January 24, 1999 in Berlin with 8: 36.64 minutes .

Klaus Goldammer started for TSC Berlin in GDR times and later for OSC Berlin . He received his doctorate in 1982 at the University of Leipzig on the subject of studies of the Indo-Americanisms from the island of Aruak and their productivity in the Cuban variant of the Spanish language and has been a freelance translator for English and Spanish since 1995 .
