Sacrament house in Lübeck's Marienkirche

The name of this Lübeck foundryman is linked to two important surviving works: Grude produced the third and youngest of the great Lübeck Fünten for the Jakobikirche and the sacrament house for the Marienkirche .

The bronze baptismal font of the Jakobikirche is signed and dated by Grude during the casting with Pentecost 1466. It was a testamentary foundation of the Lübeck councilor Johann Broling . The basin stands on the same feet in the shape of kneeling angels as Lorenz Grove's baptismal font from 1455 in Lübeck Cathedral . From this it is concluded that the Grove forms must have passed to Klaus Grude. On the outside of the cauldron, nine reliefs with pictures of the apostles are riveted, so the baptismal font was not cast in one piece.

The sacrament house in the Marienkirche is a tower with a height of 9.5 meters with approx. 1,000 bronze, partly gold-plated individual parts on the north wall of the choir. The cast is adorned with a large number of figures and is based on the design by the goldsmith Klaus Rughese . It was created by Grude in collaboration with Rughese between 1476 and 1479.

Grude is also proven by real estate in Lübeck between 1480 and 1493.
