Klaus Gumnior (born August 9, 1942 in Geringswalde ) is a German editor and publisher.

Life

Gumnior comes from a working class family. After completing eight-grade schooling, he learned the profession of an electrician. During his service in the National People's Army , he passed a special Abitur examination and then completed a pedagogy degree in Karl-Marx-Stadt with a qualification as a mathematics teacher. In the 1970s he worked at the POS "Kurt Baldauf" in Altmittweida (Hainichen district) as a civic education teacher and then switched to teaching at the SED district party school in Mittweida (today the district office). From June 1, 1986, Gumnior was secretary for the Society for Local History and the Society for the Preservation of Monuments within the Karl-Marx-Stadt district management within the Kulturbund der DDR . As part of this cultural work, he was responsible for looking after the honorary editorial boards of the Erzgebirge , Saxon and Vogtland homeland newspapers . At the end of 1989 he was appointed district manager of the Kulturbund and was entrusted with the task of closing all offices in the district by the end of 1990. He actively accompanied the transfer of the Kulturbund into an association . He was vice president of the Sachses regional association of the Kulturbund. In addition, he joined other associations such as the Gottfried Semper Club and the Association for Saxon State History .

In the early 1990s he switched to the Saxon Printing and Publishing House Dresden (SDV) in Dresden. From then on he was in charge of the Saxon and Vogtland homeland newspapers as editor. After restructuring in the SDV as a result of the Elbe flood in 2002 , he founded the Klaus Gumnior publishing house and thus also became the editor and publisher of the two magazines. In addition, he also published other printed matter on the history of Saxony . In 2005, he had already entrusted Heidi Petzoldt with the editing of the Vogtland Homeland Papers. Since he no longer wanted to publish magazines for reasons of age, this magazine was discontinued at the end of 2015 with the 35th year. Gumnior handed over the editors and publishers of the Sächsische Heimatblätter to the historians Matthias Donath and Lars-Arne Dannenberg with the 61st year (2015) . He is still a member of the editorial boards of the Erzgebirge and Saxon Homeland Papers.

He lives in Chemnitz.
