Klaus Heller (historian)

Klaus Heller (born December 18, 1937 in Bad Salzungen ) is a German historian .

Life

He studied history, German and Slavic studies at the Universities of Würzburg and Tübingen (1959–1965) (first state examination for teaching at grammar schools in history, German and Russian (1965). Legal trainee training (1965–1967). Second state examination (1967)). From 1970 to 1976 he was a research assistant at the Institute for History, Department of Eastern European and Contemporary History, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . Scholarship from the German Research Foundation (1976–1978). After long research stays in Amsterdam , Helsinki ,Moscow and Leningrad , his doctorate in 1973 in Erlangen and his habilitation in 1978 there, he taught since 1981 as a professor for Eastern European history in Erlangen- Nuremberg and since 1988 at the University of Gießen . He has been retired since April 2003 .

His main research interests are the economic and social history of Russia; especially entrepreneurial and corporate history, as well as comparative civilization and cultural history of Russia and Asia from the 10th to the 20th century.
