Klaus Edmund Berthold Körner (born September 22, 1946 in Poxdorf , Stadtroda district , Thuringia ) is a German writer , publicist , lawyer and politician . He was one in 2014 for a short time as a deputy of the party Die Linke the Brandenburg parliament to.

Life

Klaus Körner grew up in Cottbus , where he passed his Abitur in 1966 . He studied composition and music theory at the "Hanns Eisler" University of Music in Berlin . Because of an eye condition that led to blindness , he dropped out of music studies and began to study law , as there were better career prospects for the blind in this area.
After state examination and diploma at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1973, he began work in the field of copyright . From 1977 to 1995 he worked as a freelance publicist and writer. For political reasons he was only accepted into the GDR Writers' Association in 1989 . Since 1989 he has lived with his family in Petershagen near Berlin .

At the beginning of 1990, Klaus Körner initiated the call to found the “ Initiative Christian Left” (ICL), a group of initially 30 intellectuals . The aim of the initiative was to bring together those who wanted to get serious about the “ideals of Christianity on the one hand and those of Marxism on the other”. Klaus Körner was responsible for the ICL organ “Third Way. Journal for a Solidarity World ”, which appeared from 1991 to 1995.

In the 1990s he was actively involved in the “ Church from Below Initiative ”. In 1991, Körner joined the Greens and ran for the Bundestag in 1994 in second place on the state list. He did not make it into parliament, but from 1995 to 1997 he worked as a disability policy advisor in the Bundestag parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Bonn . Thereafter, Körner worked as legal counsel for the Brandenburg State Association of Life Aid. From 2001 to 2009 he worked as a research assistant for care and disability policy for the parliamentary group of the Brandenburg Left Party . On June 23, 2014, Körner entered the state parliament as a replacement for the late Helga Böhnisch and left after the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 .
Klaus Körner is currently active at the local level as a councilor and parliamentary group chairman of the party Die Linke in his home town of Petershagen.
