Klaus Konzelmann

Klaus Konzelmann (* 1962 in Truchtelfingen ) is a German local politician . Since 2015 he has been Lord Mayor of Albstadt .

Professional background

Konzelmann began vocational training with the police in the summer of 1981. After serving in Heidelberg , Balingen , at the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office and at the Balingen criminal police, Konzelmann studied at the Police College from 1989 to 1992 . After completing his studies, Konzelmann moved to Albstadt, and from 2014 he was deputy head of the Balingen Criminal Police Office.

Political career

Konzelmann was a member of the municipal council of the city of Albstadt from 1994 and from 2010 deputy chairman of the Free Voter parliamentary group . In addition, Konzelmann was a member of two municipal committees and a member of the supervisory board of the municipal housing association.

Election to the Lord Mayor

The current incumbent Jürgen Gneveckow and another candidate who, according to his own statements, was not interested in the office, ran for the mayor's election . Konzelmann himself had not officially applied for the election and had to be noted by the voters with full name and address on the ballot papers in the first ballot. However, Konzelmann was only just behind Gneveckow. Both candidates missed an absolute majority, so a second ballot was necessary. In the second ballot, Konzelmann clearly won with 60.2 percent compared to 38.3 percent of his competitor. The unusual result triggered national media coverage. Konzelmann took office on June 1, 2015.

Private

Konzelmann divorced his first marriage and has two adult children. He has been married again since 2020.
