Klaus Prange

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Klaus Prange (born January 3, 1939 ; † June 29, 2019 ) was a German educationalist . He studied a. a. with Werner Loch . His main focuses were general pedagogy , general didactics and didactics of pedagogy. He was the founder of an operational pedagogy that assumes that the basis of education consists in pedagogical operations, the core of which is showing.

life and work

Klaus Prange studied German, English, philosophy and pedagogy and then worked as a grammar school teacher - including at the Ricarda Huch School in Kiel  - before finally taking up a position at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . From 1985 to 1989 he was a university professor in Bayreuth.

His book Education for Anthroposophy , published in 1985, contains a harsh criticism of Waldorf education , which Prange considers irrational, fantastic and unscientific: “Since 1919, the Waldorf School has been a preschool for secret training in which students are guided by the 'beloved authority' , filled with 'devotional feelings', without which there is no advancement on the ghost train of secret knowledge ”.

One of his most important achievements is the reflection on the aporias of a pedagogy that makes a concept the central subject of upbringing , which she herself is suspicious of, after giving it an authoritarian aftertaste and a burden with tendencies of degradation, oppression, incapacitation, and domination and attributed bigotry.

From 1989 to 2003 Prange taught at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and from 2004 as honorary professor at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg .
