Klaus Taschwer
Klaus Taschwer (born 1967 ) is an Austrian sociologist , journalist and book author .
life and work
Taschwer studied social science , political science and philosophy at the University of Vienna . In 1995 he started his journalistic work for the city magazine Falter , he also wrote for the taz , the Freitag and the Universum magazine . From 1997 to 2009 he published the science magazine “heureka!”. Parallel to his journalistic activities, he was a lecturer at the Institute for Philosophy of Science and Science Research at the University of Vienna, taught at the University of Klagenfurt and the University of Applied Sciences Eisenstadt , was co-founder and co-director of the university course “SciMedia” for science communication and in 2013 was the first journalist-in-residence at Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
Two of his work areas attracted considerable attention: On the one hand - together with Benedict Föger - authored writings on Konrad Lorenz and its proximity to Nazi ideology, on the other hand, the 2015 signature submitted stronghold of anti-Semitism , in which he continuity anti-Semitic thought and action at the Vienna University of traced the 1920s to the 1960s.
Taschwer now works as a science editor for the daily newspaper Der Standard . In this medium and elsewhere, some of his contributions on the topic appeared before the book was published on the anti-Semitic currents at the University of Vienna.
