Location of Kleefeld in Lower Saxony

Kleefeld is a rural village and belongs to the municipality of Edewecht in the Ammerland district in Lower Saxony . It covers an area of around 10 km². Kleefeld is located west of Friedrichsfehn and east of Jeddeloh I and connects these two localities through the Jeddeloher Damm.

history

When the then Grand Duke Paul Friedrich August von Oldenburg decided to cross over from Oldenburg through the Wildenloh to Edewecht , work began in the autumn of 1830 on a roadway with ditches that had been sanded over . In the middle of the 19th century it was the goal of the Oldenburg state along this route to bring culture to the wasteland , with the ulterior motive of later settling taxpayers there.

After the road was usable in 1840, colonists began to settle along Wildenlohs Weg (today: Jeddeloher Damm) in 1846. In 1846 Johann Friedrich Oeltjenbruns visited the place he had chosen on this path and settled there. In 1848–54, further colonies, each around 10 hectares in size, south of the Wildenlohs Weg were settled, to which one could apply. This colony, called Wildenlohsweg , showed a relatively homogeneous settlement pattern along the road around 1855 and was supplemented by 1862. From 1874–1895, the Wildenlohs way was expanded to the fortified Chaussee Edewecht - Oldenburg.

From 1905–07, areas north of Wildenlohs Weg were measured up until then, and were developed up to Portsloger Damm, and from summer 1907 onwards were given to the first settlers. This area was called Wildenlohsmoor III . Around 1910, a grocery store with a village jug was licensed to form a village center.

In 1918 the Edewecht municipal council decided to name the entire settlement area "Kleefeld" . In 1919 the Kleefeld farmers became independent after separating from the Jeddeloh I farmers, whereby the Rudenbrook ( Wildenlohsmoor II ) Klein Scharrel colony was added.
