particularities | conical mountain shape |
The Kleine Dristkogel is a mountain of the Kaunergrat , a mountain range of the Ötztal Alps . It is located directly south of the Wallfahrtsjöchl , a crossing from the Pitztal into the Kaunertal that was often used in the past . He is the scaled-down image of the Great Dristkogel , which is directly south of him. Its flat, conical mountain shape gives it a distinctive appearance. From the north it is the first technically more demanding mountain of the Kaunergrat. The mountain is also known under the name Pauschlerkogel and at its southeastern foot there is a small glacier cirque .
First ascent
The mountain was probably already climbed by hunters from the south side in ancient times, but there is no reliable evidence of this. F. Hörtnagl, A. Zott and O. Zott made the first tourist ascent on July 25, 1900 from the northeast. They climbed the Glacier Kar, which is on the east side of the Pilgrimage Pass below the mountain. Then they crossed a steep field of firn to the southwest to the steep flank of the mountain, where they climbed a steep ice channel to the north ridge and finally to the summit. They descended over the south ridge to the package gorge.
Routes
Normal route (route of the first climber)
The normal route leads from St. Leonhard im Pitztal over a marked trail to the Tiefentaler Alm. Continue on the trail in the direction of Wallfahrtsjöchl to just east of the ridge. From the Kaunertal up to the Wallfahrtsjöchl and east down towards the Pitztal.
The path leads down south and over moraine slopes into the glacier cirque lying to the east under the mountain; further over a steep field of firn to the southwest to the flat flank of the mountain, to where a weakly pronounced rock channel descends from the ridge. Now it goes up over the steep, flat rocks in difficulty UIAA II , until the gully is more pronounced and merges into a rubble gully. Climb up steeply over rubble and flat rocks to an often icy bend in the gully, over the ice or over steep, flat rocks further up to a block barrier. Then around it and in the uppermost, easier part of the channel, further over scree it goes to the ridge. Now left (south) the path leads up through a steep, chimney-like furrow (II). At its end it goes over narrow rock edges to the block ridge (II) and over it briefly to the summit with Steinmann and Stange.
South ridge
From the Tiefentaler Alm in the Pitztal into the valley of the Gschwandbach. Following the northern stream up into a cirque east of the Dristkögel. Upwards over rubble into the general gully. Over the block ridge up to the summit (II).
North ridge
From the Kaunertal or Pitztal to the Wallfahrtsjöchl. Now south over the initially flat, then lighter north ridge of the mountain to the summit (II).
