Kleingeschwenda is a district of the town of Leutenberg in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

Like Steinsdorf, Kleingeschwenda is situated on a heavily undulating high plateau surrounded by forest in the south- east Thuringian slate mountains . The village is easily accessible from the district road 167 .

history

The village was first mentioned in documents in 1379. The place belonged to the Grafschaft Schwarzburg-Leutenberg and after its extinction from 1564 to 1918 to the supremacy of the Grafschaft or the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt .

In 1999 the village celebrated its 650th anniversary. The church and the manor are landmarks of the place. The rural location has always been linked to tourism because of its natural location.
