history
The Koog was diked between 1726 and 1727 and celebrated its 250th anniversary in 1977. It gets its name from the Kleiseetief , a watt stream that used to run there. 1633/4 attempts had already been made to contain this low, but the Burchardi flood had ruined the efforts.
According to a census list there were around 15 farmers in Koog around 1803. At the beginning of the 19th century, cattle and grain were the main products.
In 1952/53 a pumping station was built, which ensured that some parts of the Koog were no longer flooded as often in winter.
In 1974 the previously independent municipality merged with the municipalities Christian-Albrechts-Koog and Marienkoog to form the municipality of Galmsbüll .
economy
Only a few inhabitants of the Kooges still work full-time in agriculture, where the production of biogas has increased in recent years .
