Klemens Bachleda
Klemens Bachleda (* 1849 or 1851 in Kościelisko ; † August 6, 1910 in the High Tatras ) was a Polish mountaineer and mountain guide in the Tatras .
Life
Bachleda was born a half- orphan, at the age of 12 he became an orphan. He undertook numerous first ascents and mountain tours in the Tatras. As a mountain guide he was very successful and was known as "the Polish Sherpa " throughout his life . He was one of the founders of the mountain rescue service in the Tatra Mountains and the first of its mountain rescuers to be killed in a rescue operation. Bachleda was buried in the New Cemetery in Zakopane .
