The Beaupré Monastery (Bellum pratum; not to be confused with the Beaupré Monastery in Lorraine and the Beaupré nunneries in Flanders and Beaupré-sur-la-Lys ) is a former Cistercian abbey in the municipality of Achy in the Oise department in the Hauts-de- France in France . It was about two kilometers southeast of Marseille-en-Beauvaisis , on the Petit Thérain stream .

history

The monastery was donated in 1135 on land that the Lords of Milly had made available and settled by a convent from Ourscamp Monastery . So it belonged to the filiation of the Clairvaux Primary Abbey . The monastery owned the Grangien Caurroy, Brombos and Briot-la-Grange and the Woimaison farms in Haute-Épine and Ovillers (municipality of Prévillers ) and the forest of Malmifait. It was in 1346 by Edward III. destroyed by England . It ended in 1790. In the 19th century the buildings were used for a cotton mill and then sold for demolition.

Buildings and plant

The church has completely disappeared. The dining room of the guest wing as well as the entrance gate and parts of the surrounding wall as well as remains of the monastery mill have been preserved.
