Knud Knudsen (sculptor)
Knud Knudsen , also Knud Christian Knudsen (born January 16, 1916 in Berlin ; † March 1998 in Bad Nauheim ) was a German sculptor , publisher and author .
Life
Knudsen is the son of the theater scholar Hans Knudsen . From 1935 to 1941 he studied newspaper studies and art history at the Berlin University until he received his doctorate . Parallel to his studies, he trained as a press draftsman, so that he was employed as a war draftsman from 1940 to 1945 during the Second World War . His Christian publishing house was initially based in Berlin-Wilmersdorf and moved to Bad Nauheim in 1949, where Knudsen mainly lived and worked in the future. As part of the re- education of the Western Allies, he first published books in which the views of the winners on various areas of life were presented, as well as descriptions of the USA and Great Britain . In 1949 he became the first employee and literary director of the founded German Coordination Council of the Societies for Christian-Jewish Cooperation .
In the following years Knudsen worked as a freelance sculptor, from 1954 also in his summer residence on Ibiza . He lectured at home and abroad. His works are often in public spaces .
Knudsen was married to Doris, b. Formella, who continued his publishing house until 1978.
