Knut Wolfgang Maron (born December 29, 1954 in Bonn ) is a German photo artist and professor for experimental photography at the University of Wismar .

Live and act

From 1973 onwards, Maron trained as a photographer with Gerhard Sachsse (1920–1998) in Bonn and from 1976 attended the Rheinbach School of Glass . From 1977 to 1983 he studied at the Folkwangschule in Essen in the class of Otto Steinert and Erich vom Endt and graduated with a diploma in visual communication. He is connected to subjective photography through Otto Steinert . In the 1980s he lived in Paris for a few years.

Since 1993 he has been professor for experimental photography at the University of Wismar , department of design / interior architecture (formerly Heiligendamm branch), from 1996 to 1998 he was dean there.

Ute Eskildsen exhibited Maron's first color works from 1979 in 1981 at the Museum Folkwang . Maron received the 1993 Leopold Godowsky Jr. Award for Color Photography from the Photographic Recource Center , Boston. Maron's works are in the collections of the Museum Folkwang, Essen, the Museum Ludwig , Cologne, the collection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia , the State Museum Schwerin , the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart , the Maison européenne de la photographie , Paris, and the Bibliothèque nationale de France , Paris.
