The Kodina ( Russian Ко́дина ) is a right tributary of the Onega in the Arkhangelsk Oblast in northwestern Russia .
The Kodina rises in the hill country 60 km south-southwest of Arkhangelsk . From there it flows initially in a southerly direction, later in a predominantly westward direction through the administrative districts of Primorsk and Onega . At Kodino the Wytschjera joins the Kodina from the right. Finally, about 60 km southeast of the city of Onega, it reaches the north-flowing Onega River. The Kodina flows into the right arm of the river ( Great Onega ) of the Onega, which splits in this area over a distance of 15 km.
The Kodina has a length of 183 km. It drains an area of 2700 km². It is mainly fed by the snowmelt . 86 km above the mouth, the mean discharge is 18.5 m³ / s. The river floods in May . The river is ice-covered between November and May. The Kodina has been used for rafting , at least in the past .
