Kolbeinn Birgir Finnsson (born August 25, 1999 ) is an Icelandic football player .
Career
society
Kolbeinn started his career at Fylkir Reykjavík . At the age of 14 he made his debut in April 2014 against Þróttur Reykjavík for the first team in the League Cup. In May 2015 he made his debut in the Pepsideild when he came on as a substitute for Ingimundur Níels Óskarsson on the second day of the 2015 season against Fjölnir Reykjavík in the 84th minute . By the end of the season he came to nine missions for Fylkir in the highest Icelandic league.
In February 2016 he moved to the Netherlands for FC Groningen . There he was initially used for the U-19 team. In April 2017 he made his debut against the second team of Almere City FC for the reserves of Groningen in the Derde Divisie . For the 2017/18 season he became a permanent part of the reserve team and made 23 fourth division appearances for Groningen II.
For the 2018/19 season he moved to England for Brentford FC , where he received a contract that ran until June 2020. At Brentford he should initially be used for the reserve. In February 2019 he was in the professional squad for the first time against Swansea City in the FA Cup . In May 2019 it was awarded to Fylkir Reykjavík for two months. In the same month he scored his first goal in the Pepsideild in a 2-2 draw against FH Hafnarfjörður . By the end of the loan, he came to 13 appearances for Fylkir, in which he scored two goals.
In August 2019 he moved to Germany to Borussia Dortmund , where he received a contract that ran until June 2022 and will initially play for the regional league team.
National team
Kolbeinn played for the Icelandic U15 team for the first time in October 2013 . With this he also took part in the 2014 Youth Summer Games, where they finished third and thus also won the only medal in Iceland at the Youth Summer Games. In October 2014 he made his debut against Moldova for the U17 team . By April 2016, he came to 19 missions for this, in which he scored two goals.
In October 2016 he played for the U19 team for the first time against Ukraine . It was used for these seven times by November 2017. In March 2018 he made his debut against Ireland for the Iceland under-21 team .
He made his senior national team debut in January 2019 when he came on for Guðmundur Þórarinsson in a 78th minute friendly against Sweden .
