The death trap is the sixth film in the crime series Kommissar Beck - The New Cases , which was produced in 1998 with Peter Haber and Mikael Persbrandt in the leading roles.
action
The gay policeman Sören Nordmark is found dead on a park bench. The police initially assume a suicide, but Beck believes that Nordmark did not sit alone on the bench and was murdered. He does research in a gay bar where he meets Nordmark's former friend Leonard. He shows Beck a farewell letter that he claims to have received from Nordmark. In this he announced that he wanted to end his life because of his homosexuality and alcohol addiction. However, Beck finds out that Nordmark was dyslexic ; However, since the letter does not contain a single spelling error, it must be a forgery.
Meanwhile, Lena has learned that Nordmark has regularly accessed data from the police computer that had nothing to do with his work. He had worked as a mole for Beck's archenemy Gavling, who blackmailed him with his hidden homosexuality. Beck knows Gavling from a case 19 years ago in which he and an accomplice robbed a family and dropped their baby from the eighth floor. Gavling was able to intimidate the key witness , the baby's mother, in such a way that she withdrew her testimony, so that Gavling had to be released for lack of evidence.
Meanwhile, a homeless man appears who claims to have heard gunshots in the park that night after a long-haired person fled the park. Beck immediately thinks of Leonard, who also admits to having sat on the bench with Nordmark on Gavling's behalf. Gavling, nervous after Beck's persistent research, threatens his daughter Inger and her newborn baby and has Leonard killed by his bodyguard.
Gunvald, angry about how Gavling is again fooling everyone, pays him a visit to his villa that evening, threatens him and pretends to want to kill him. Lena has meanwhile located Gunilla Strömholm, the mother of the baby from the 19-year-old case. She is ready to testify in a new trial against Gavling.
However, Gavling still has a mole with the police and is therefore well informed about the progress of the investigation. He wants to give Gunilla an overdose to keep her from giving evidence. In the middle, however, Beck, Gunvald and Lena appear, there is an exchange of fire in which Gavling is wounded and falls out of the window.
