The Kompania Piwowarska SA is a Polish brewery company , which in possession of since 2017 Japanese Brewery Group Asahi Beer is. Until then, it belonged to SABMiller (only 71.9 percent until 2009, then 100%). In the course of their merger with AB-InBev in 2016, Kompania Piwowarska was separated from the SABMiller Group.

According to its own information, the company covered 36.9 percent of the beer market in Poland in 2016 . The company sells the brands Tyskie , Żubr , Lech , Dębowe Mocne , Redd's, Pilsner Urquell , Gingers, Wojak , Grolsch , Książęce and Velkopopovický Kozel .

Polish brands

The two main brands of Kompania Piwowarska are Lech and Tyskie . The Polish brands Żubr , Dębowe Mocne , Wojak and Książęce are also produced.

Foreign brands

In the course of the transition from SABMiller to Asahi, other European brands were also taken over. These are still part of Kompania Piwowarska’s distribution in Poland . These include Grolsch from the Netherlands and the brands Pilsner Urquell and Velkopopovický Kozel from the Czech Plzeňský Prazdroj as

REDD'S

The drink REDD'S was originally developed by the SABMiller Group for the South African market and is one of the most important mixed beer drinks there. The drink is also available in Russia, Colombia and Botswana .

It is manufactured by Kompania Piwowarska in Poznan for the Polish market . REDD'S is available here in five flavors.

Economic data

The company has breweries in Tychy , Poznan and Białystok . It sold 13.8 million hectoliters of beverages in the 2017 financial year (for comparison: the 2006 financial year 11.4 million hectoliters). The Tyskie brand has a 17 percent share of the Polish beer market and Żubr 11 percent. (As of 2006)

history

The company was created in 1999 from the merger of Lech Browary Wielkopolski SA and Browarów Tyskich Górny Śląsk SA . The majority of both companies had been owned by South African Breweries , today SABMiller, since 1995 ( Lech Browary Wielkopolski ) and 1996 respectively . In 2006 Kompania Piwowarska SA acquired a brewery in Białystok from the Radeberger Group . The brewery group came into the possession of AB-InBev in 2016 with the takeover of SABMiller. The Central and Eastern Europe business of the former SABMiller had to be sold due to the requirements of the EU Commission regarding the merger . The sale to Asahi Beer was completed on March 31, 2017.
