The Conference of Equal Opportunities and Women's Ministers and Senators of the Federal States ( GFMK ) is the conference of specialist ministers that lays down the basic lines for a common gender equality and women's policy in the Federal Republic of Germany and decides on measures to ensure equal opportunities for women and men To reduce disadvantages in various areas of life.

history

The first constituent meeting took place on November 7, 1991 in Potsdam . With the establishment of the GFMK based on the example of the other specialist ministerial conferences, account was taken of the fact that ministries were gradually created in all federal states that were responsible for gender equality and women's policy. The aim is to achieve as uniform views and regulations as possible among the federal states with regard to gender equality and women's policy, in order to give more emphasis to the demand for equal rights.

The GFMK usually meets once a year. The main conference is always prepared by a pre-conference. Further conferences can be called if necessary. The members of the GFMK are the ministers and senators of the federal states responsible for gender equality and women's policy.
