The Congregation of the Holy Family of Nazareth ( Latin : Congregatio Sacrae Familiae a Nazareth , abbreviation : FN ) is an order of men in the Roman Catholic Church . It was founded in 1900 by the Blessed Giovanni Battista Piamarta (1841–1913) in Brescia ( Italy ).

history

The pastor Giovanni Battista Piamarta worried about the development and the increasing problems of the young people in his parish , in particular he took care of the youth from the “ working class ” and for this reason he set up agricultural and craft schools . In 1900 he founded a community of priests in Brescia who took care of children, preferably orphans . Later lay people were also accepted into the congregation . By decree of January 10, 1948, the Institute of Consecrated Life was granted by Pope Pius XII. the license to practice medicine . Their motto is: Pietas et Labor , d. H. "Piety and Work".

The Congregation operates in Angola , Brazil , Chile and Italy, has 23 institutions and 137 members, 93 of whom are clergy . The achievements of the religious order also include the establishment of aid organizations in development aid , foundations , a lay movement and a youth organization .

The General House has its headquarters in Brescia , this is also where the General Council is located and is headed by the current Superior General, Father Enzo Turriceni. In Italy, this religious order, after being renamed in 2005, is known as the Congregazione della Sacra Famiglia di Nazareth del Beato Padre Piamarta (short form: Piamartini).
